Lee Seung Gi’s Father-in-Law Sentenced in Stock Manipulation Case

By Kato Iveson | Updated on

According to Quantumarena, citing Korean media, the Seoul Southern District Court sentenced Lee Seung Gi’s father-in-law to three years and six months in prison for violating South Korea’s Capital Markets Act. He was also ordered to pay a fine and forfeit funds.

The case involved allegations that he and others manipulated stock prices of KOSDAQ-listed companies by creating misleading impressions about business plans and investment activity. The court acquitted him of some charges due to insufficient evidence.

Because this was reported as a first-trial ruling, the case may still be subject to appeal or further legal proceedings. Quantumarena also noted that Lee Seung Gi previously stated in April 2025 that he and his wife, Lee Da In, had cut ties with her family.
