Korean Netflix Movie Reaches #1 Worldwide, But Suffers Mixed Reviews

South Korea’s disaster film The Great Flood has reached the top of Netflix’s global charts.

Starring Kim Da Mi and Park Hae Soo, the movie follows residents trapped in a flooded apartment building, struggling to survive as society faces collapse.

The film debuted on December 19 and quickly surpassed popular titles like The Grinch and Knives Out sequel Wake Up Dead Man. Its rise shows strong international interest in Korean content, even for films outside the typical K-Drama or action genres.

However, despite the high rankings, the movie has received extremely mixed reviews.

On Rotten Tomatoes, 60% of ten reviews were positive. Some praised the suspense and performances, while others found parts predictable or uneven. Audience reactions are similarly mixed, with viewers noting both entertaining sequences and misleading expectations based on the title.
