EXO’s Kai Talks About His Recent Solo Album, Upcoming Solo Concert Tour "KAION," And More
EXO’s Kai recently participated in a photo shoot for the fashion magazine Elle!
Following the photo shoot, which was in collaboration with Versace’s fragrance Eros Energy, Kai sat down for an interview. Having recently wrapped up promotions for his 4th mini album “Wait On Me” and preparing for his first solo concert tour “KAION,” he opened up about what keeps him motivated. He shared, “Since this is my first activity after being discharged [from mandatory military service], I feel like my energy to work has been fully recharged. I want to let fans who haven’t seen me in two years know that we’ll be meeting more often now. I’m physically tired, but mentally I’m incredibly happy and feel very fulfilled because I’m confident that I’m doing the best I can right now.”
Kai has appeared on various variety shows and recently took on the role of MC for the popular web variety show “Changing Majors.” Reflecting on his recent activities, he said, “I learned a lot through my experience as a social service worker. My attitude toward people hasn’t changed, but I think that because I talk more about relatable, everyday experiences, many people are finding me more approachable.”
When asked what it means to be good at his job, Kai—who debuted in 2012—responded, “In the past, I thought it was all about the end result. Now, I think it’s about staying in your field for a long time—enduring. Honestly, the fact that you’ve been doing it for a long time is proof that you’re good at it.”
Speaking about his upcoming concert tour, which kicks off on May 17 in Seoul, he shared, “I’m nervous and excited, but above all, I feel happy. Most of my solo activities overlapped with the pandemic, so I didn’t have many chances to meet fans in person. In the past, I focused more on myself, but now I’m definitely more focused on connecting with the fans. I really want to show them a cool performance.”
Kai’s full pictorial and interview can be found in the June issue of Elle Korea.
